Urent Launches Digital ID Age Verification for Scooter Rentals
The company aims to give users as many authentication options as possible.
The Urent scooter-sharing service has introduced age verification through a digital ID for electric scooter rentals. The feature is available through the MAX messenger app and can only be activated by users who are at least 18 years old.
The new option is currently available only in St. Petersburg and Kaliningrad. After the pilot phase, it could be expanded to other regions of Russia. The rollout is part of the company's broader effort to improve scooter-sharing safety and prevent underage users from renting scooters.
"We already offer several ways to verify a user's age, including Mos ID in Moscow and our MTS ID-based solution in other regions. Together, these tools have already prevented more than 142,000 minors from renting scooters," Urent's press office said.
