A digital diagnostics platform called Orfaskop equipped with artificial intelligence is now operating in Russia, where physicians can learn about rare diseases, said Alexander Rumyantsev, head of the Dmitry Rogachev National Medical Research Center for Pediatric Hematology, Oncology and Immunology.

Using the service, specialists can study symptoms of rare conditions online, review diagnostic and treatment algorithms, and receive guidance on where to refer patients in specific cases.

This approach helps doctors better understand rare diseases while allowing patients to receive care locally rather than through centralized treatment centers.

From Learning to Action

Russia is also actively developing a range of AI-based assistants to support clinicians. Earlier reports noted that a digital AI assistant for doctors has been launched in the Moscow region, helping prescribe medications and issue prescriptions. The algorithmic system PharmFrame, developed by the B3-MED team, is already available to around 15,000 healthcare professionals in the region.

In addition, medical institutions in the Moscow region are piloting a diagnostic assistant called AIDA. The AI-powered tool helps therapists and general practitioners establish a primary diagnosis based on data from patients’ electronic medical records.
