A regional search center in the Komi Republic has launched training courses for volunteers from the LizaAlert and Good People of Usinsk teams. Participants are learning to operate drones and use image analysis systems. The drones stream video to a computer, where AI identifies potential human silhouettes among trees and dense vegetation in real time.

The initiative was announced on the regional government’s official Telegram channel. According to experts, the approach can cut search times significantly, a critical advantage in the republic’s dense forests and taiga, where manual searches require extensive effort.

The drone training courses are supported by grant funding. Combining drones with neural networks reduces the burden on volunteers and improves the chances of finding missing people alive.
