An intelligent video monitoring system called Tretye Mnenie (Third Opinion) has been introduced at Yegoryevsk Hospital in the Moscow region, according to the regional Ministry of Health.

The AI-based system continuously monitors patients in the intensive care unit around the clock. The service alerts medical staff to critical events. Its algorithms recognize a range of scenarios, including attempts by patients to get up and potential fall risks, delayed reactions when recovering from anesthesia, signs of tremor and increased motor activity, and the disconnection of catheters or life-support equipment.

Reduce Workload for Medical Staff

The system also tracks whether medical instructions are followed and whether visitation rules are observed. If necessary, a privacy mode can be activated that blurs the image or automatically shuts the camera. The AI monitoring system has been integrated into the hospital’s medical information system.

“We are expanding the use of digital technologies in hospitals across the Moscow region. AI monitoring is a tool that helps medical staff. It improves patient safety and reduces the risk of complications. Importantly, the technology does not replace doctors or nurses but reduces their workload,” said Maksim Zabelin, minister of health of the Moscow region.
