ITMO University to Establish Center for Industrial Robotics Development
The university has received 500 million rubles to fund the initiative.

ITMO University has received 500 million rubles (approximately $6.2 million) to establish a Center for Industrial Robotics Development. The funding was awarded through a competition held under Russia’s national project “Means of Production and Automation.”
The new center at ITMO will focus on developing robotic systems, dedicated production cells for specific tasks, and complete production lines in which multiple robots and other equipment work together. This approach to automation will enable manufacturers to adapt much faster to changing production requirements.
“Our goal is to make robotics accessible and cost-effective for Russian manufacturers. Today, it is not enough simply to install a robot on a production line. We need to teach it to adapt to real-world operating conditions. We are bringing together ITMO’s expertise in artificial intelligence, robotics and digital manufacturing, and we are already developing solutions that meet real industry needs,” said Anton Pyrkin, head of ITMO’s Center for Industrial Robotics Development.
