Russian Energy Agency Develops One-Stop Portal for Technical Information for the Energy Industry
The knowledge base will contain millions of documents collected over the past 60 years.

Developers at the Russian Energy Agency (REA), part of Russia’s Ministry of Energy, are building a one-stop portal for scientific and technical information for companies across the fuel and energy sector. The project is being developed within the government’s “Science and Innovation” domain and is intended to become a key information resource for the industry.
The new platform will draw on the REA’s Scientific and Technical Information Fund, which holds 12 million documents collected over six decades. The materials are stored in various formats, from printed publications to microfiche and microfilm. The agency is now digitizing its paper library catalog. In the first stage, artificial intelligence is being used to process catalog cards. The agency plans to digitize the scientific and technical documents themselves at a later stage.
As a result, energy industry professionals could gain access to a single, structured knowledge base. It is expected to speed up information searches and help specialists make technical decisions more quickly.
