Rosatom took part in Innoprom. India, an international trade show held in New Delhi. The state corporation presented its additive manufacturing technologies.

One of the highlights of the exhibition was a Russian-developed 3D scanner manufactured at an Indian partner’s facility. Rosatom initiated the partnership, localized the equipment for industrial 3D scanning and brought the technology to the Indian market.

Production of Russian 3D scanners in India began this year. Local manufacturing will help lower the cost of the equipment for end customers. The scanners are manufactured under the Smart Scan brand.

“Previously, our Indian partners used a conventional method to manufacture similar products – stamping. After supplying India with the large-format RusBeam 2800 3D printer, Rosatom proposed replacing the multi-stage stamping process with electron-beam deposition in a vacuum, at a rate of up to 5 kilograms of metal per hour,” said Ilya Kavelashvili, director of the Additive Technologies business area at Rosatom’s Fuel Division.
