An online school focused on robotics and artificial intelligence has launched in Russia. The joint project, called RoboSchool, is being developed by the digital company Sber together with Saint Petersburg–based IT university ITMO University.

The program is open to third- and fourth-year undergraduate students. Mentors will include experts from Sber’s Robotics Center and university faculty. The curriculum covers five tracks, including digital manufacturing, electrical engineering, and control systems.

Students who demonstrate the strongest results will be eligible for direct admission to ITMO’s master’s programs without entrance exams.

Embodied Intelligence

The program combines hands-on assignments with theoretical training. Participants will study machine-learning methods and simulation modeling for robotic systems. Top RoboSchool participants will work on projects built around embodied intelligence challenges.

As Alexey Gonnochenko, senior managing director and head of Sber’s Robotics Center, noted, RoboSchool gives students a chance to tackle real-world industry problems and understand which skills will shape the profession in the coming years.

According to Sergey Kolyubin, a professor of control systems and robotics at ITMO, embodied intelligence is emerging as a key technological trend.

“When AI becomes a basic development tool and demands on specialists continue to rise, deep domain expertise turns into the main competitive advantage in the labor market,” he said.
