St. Petersburg Maritime College Adds High-Voltage Training for Marine Engineers
The St. Petersburg Marine Fisheries College, a branch of Kaliningrad State Technical University, has commissioned an ERS TechCore engine room simulator developed by Evolyutsiya morskikh tsifrovykh tekhnologiy (Evolution of Marine Digital Technologies).
The system is designed to train marine engineers, refrigeration engineers, engine-room ratings, and electricians. It includes 10 networked workstations that allow students to practice working as a team. The simulator features a full-size high-voltage switchgear unit, enabling students to learn how to operate high-voltage equipment without putting themselves or actual machinery at risk. 3D visualizations of pipelines, pumps, and valves make the training environment more realistic.
According to Tikhonov, graduates who practice these scenarios while still in college arrive on board with practical experience operating modern ship systems.
The simulator's software was developed entirely in Russia and is listed in Mintsifry's (Ministry of Digital Development) register of Russian software.
