Russia Is to Launch Digital River for Cargo Shipping
The system is designed to simplify coordination between the state and carriers, speed up paperwork, and link river transport to international logistics chains.

Russia’s Siberian Federal District is developing a unified information system called Tsifrovaya Reka (Digital River). The project is intended to improve the efficiency of cargo shipping along the Ob–Irtysh and Yenisei river basins.
The development of waterways in the Ob–Irtysh and Yenisei basins is being personally coordinated by Anatoly Seryshev, the presidential envoy to the Siberian Federal District.
The system, which is planned to be integrated into the national platform GosLog (State Logistics Platform), is expected to simplify interaction between government agencies and carriers, accelerate document processing, and bring river transport into international logistics chains. The platform will bring together all market participants and be synchronized with state digital services.
Carried Along by the Digital Current
Another step in the digital transformation of Russia’s river transport sector will be the creation of a digital registry of river ports. According to Deputy Transport Minister Boris Tashimov, every vessel and the surrounding infrastructure should be tracked in real time. The registry will include major ports and river infrastructure, including regional facilities.
Transport Minister Andrey Nikitin has previously said that the introduction of end-to-end digital monitoring of the transport process would ensure transparency, data reliability, and more effective management of the sector.
