Russian Developers Create an AI Assistant for Business and Government

The system is positioned not as a chatbot, but as a full-fledged engineering tool integrated into internal workflows.

Researchers at Ogarev Mordovia State University have developed a next-generation AI assistant. Unlike conventional chatbots, it is designed as an engineering-grade tool built on Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG), an approach in which the knowledge base is separated from the answer-generation mechanism and responses are produced solely from verified internal data. The architecture is intended to minimize the risk of errors.

The development is expected to be used in both business and the public sector. According to its creators, it can speed up information retrieval and reduce the workload on corporate technical support teams.

Open Software and Long-Term Potential

As the university noted, the assistant was built using open-source software, eliminating dependence on foreign systems. Local companies have already expressed interest in the technology, which can provide fast access to technical regulations and compliance documents, helping streamline internal operations.

The university team has previously established itself as a developer of decision-support systems for industrial companies, geoportal solutions for managing spatial data, and tools for intelligent analysis of text structures. Today, even regional universities in Russia are producing specialized technologies that are already delivering measurable economic impact.
