World Economic Forum in Vladivostok Showcases Russia’s “Digital Forest”

Visitors stepped into an immersive AR installation that blends nature, language, and culture—highlighting how Russia is using digital tech to preserve heritage.

At the Vladivostok branch of the National Center “Russia,” an innovative exhibition called “Digital Forest” debuted at the World Economic Forum. President Vladimir Putin was the first to walk through the immersive installation, which featured virtual inhabitants of the Ussuri taiga and an interactive zone dedicated to the Russian language.

The technology highlighted at the forum underscores the growing role of IT in education, culture, and civic engagement. Visitors saw firsthand how digital platforms can transform approaches to preserving and promoting national, natural, and cultural heritage—setting a new standard for museum and exhibition design.

One of the central attractions was the multimedia pavilion “Taiga.” By combining visual projections, animation, and spatial sound, organizers created a full-sensory environment. As visitors strolled through the forest—branches hanging from above, birdsong and rustling leaves filling the air—the walls came alive with rare animals like the Amur tiger and Far Eastern leopard.

The forum also presented an interactive installation titled “The Unique Russian Language.” Here, grammar and vocabulary are taught through gaming mechanics. The format’s accessibility and playful design make learning more engaging and effective for audiences of all ages.
