Russian University Partners with OS Developer to Train AI Specialists

Novosibirsk State University and software developer Basalt SPO have launched a joint program to train AI experts and promote Russian-made operating systems, strengthening the country’s digital independence.

Russian OS developer Basalt SPO and Novosibirsk National Research State University have signed a cooperation agreement at the 12th International TECHNOPROM-2025 Forum to jointly train specialists in artificial intelligence and domestic software.

The initiative will be carried out through the educational project 'Alf Academy.' According to Basalt SPO’s commercial director, Evgeniya Kryninа, Novosibirsk Region is a national leader in building a technologically independent digital infrastructure based on Russian solutions. She expressed hope that the partnership will help supply the region with highly qualified IT professionals.

Specifically, the company will assist the university in developing educational programs in AI, creating a digital environment powered by Alt operating systems, training students to work with GNU/Linux, promoting Russian software, and organizing various educational activities.

Earlier, Novosibirsk State University was included in the list of institutions tasked with preparing top-level AI specialists between 2025 and 2030.
