Digital meters are spreading across Russian regions, saving consumers money while eliminating the hassle of manual readings.

The rollout of smart meters is accelerating across Russia, with Chelyabinsk region offering a clear example. In Miass alone, Zlatoust Electric Networks installed more than 10,000 smart meters in just the first half of the year. The company notes that these intelligent systems have helped modernize infrastructure quickly and improve service quality.

The biggest benefits go to consumers. High-precision measurements and multi-tariff functionality allow households to cut utility bills significantly, with data transmitted automatically—no more writing down and sending in readings. In some cases, the meters are installed at no cost: grid companies cover the expense when a household lacks a meter, the device breaks down, or it reaches the end of its service life.

Experts believe that in the near future, smart digital meters will fully replace outdated devices across Russia.
