AI Helps Russian Publishers Streamline Contracts With Authors
A document recognition system reduces contract processing time to just minutes.

In Russia, publishing house Eksmo has integrated the Smart Engines platform into its 1C accounting system. The system now automatically extracts the data needed to sign contracts directly from authors’ documents.
The AI reads passport details, tax identification numbers, and social security data, extracts key fields, and automatically fills out contractor profiles. Staff only need to verify and confirm the information before proceeding with contract оформления.
Document Processing
The platform handles both printed and handwritten documents. It can recognize tables, signatures, and stamps, extracting data even from complex forms.
The system operates at high speed. In a server configuration, it can process up to 125 passports per second and up to 900 pages of documents per minute without using GPUs.
Millions of Books, Thousands of Authors
Eksmo publishes tens of millions of books each year and actively seeks new authors. With such volumes, manual document processing slowed down onboarding. Automation has significantly reduced the time required to start working with new writers.
Secure Processing
All document processing takes place within the publisher’s internal infrastructure. Data is not transmitted to external services and remains within a secure environment. The Smart Engines technology is included in Russia’s official registry of domestic software.
