Demand for protecting artificial intelligence systems is rising in Russia, according to analytics cited by Rossiyskaya Gazeta. The newspaper reports that the market for AI cybersecurity systems is currently estimated at around 1 billion rubles (about $12 million) and could grow elevenfold by 2029.

The growth is driven by the rapid adoption of neural networks in business processes and by changes in the nature of online threats.

AI is increasingly being used by fraudsters, making such attacks harder to detect, as malicious software is often disguised as legitimate code. As a result, the segment focused on preventing these incidents is expected to grow the fastest, particularly in business, communications, and the public sector.

A Thought-Out Security Model

Experts say that using AI without a well-designed security model will soon be impossible. Unlike traditional cybersecurity, where attacks target specific code or infrastructure components, AI security must protect the entire system as a whole.

Russia has developed unique expertise in protecting digital infrastructure, analysts note, and this experience is attracting interest from countries in Asia and Africa. In the near future, AI protection is likely to be treated as a matter of national security, which will further drive demand for reliable domestic solutions. Government grants and other support measures are expected to support the segment’s growth.
