Fifth All-Russian School on High-Energy Physics, Nuclear Physics, and Accelerator Technology Held in Sarov

Participants explored the latest results from accelerator experiments and learned about a project to build a Compton radiation source in Russia.

The Fifth All-Russian School on High-Energy Physics, Nuclear Physics, and Accelerator Technology has concluded at the National Center for Physics and Mathematics in Sarov. The event, supported by Rosatom (State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom), brought together senior undergraduate students, graduate students, and early-career researchers.

The educational program covered topics ranging from nuclear photonics and particle accelerator technologies to nuclear astrophysics and machine learning applications. Participants attended presentations on the latest experiments conducted at operating accelerator facilities and learned about the National Center for Physics and Mathematics' project to develop a Compton radiation source in Russia.

“Several projects around the world already use inverse photon scattering and are producing compelling results,” said Alexander Sergeev, Scientific Director of the National Center for Physics and Mathematics and a member of the Russian Academy of Sciences. “What we are developing, however, is a completely unique instrument that will allow us to examine the structure of the atomic nucleus in unprecedented detail. As we launch this work and move forward, it is essential for us to pursue entirely new ideas and uncover new opportunities for research and experimentation.”
