Tomsk State University is launching a new program at the intersection of physics, materials science, and digital technologies, the university’s press service said. Graduates are expected to work in Russia’s radio electronics sector, developing and improving solutions for domestic hardware-software systems and other digital equipment.

According to Olga Dotsenko, program head and acting dean of the Faculty of Radiophysics at the university, the “Intelligent Control and Communication Systems” track combines studies in communication systems with programming of microcontrollers and highly adaptive microchips. These technologies underpin smart electronic devices that control sensors, motors, and displays – key components for robotics, the Internet of Things, industrial equipment, medical devices, and automotive systems.

From University to Industry

The program also includes materials science and microelectronics.

Students already enrolled will be able to obtain an additional qualification. The practical component will be supported by leading regional companies, including the Research Institute of Semiconductor Devices, Mikran, and Gazprom Transgaz Tomsk.

According to the university, the program is designed to build a full “science – education – industry” pipeline, enabling faster transfer of technologies from the laboratory to production.
