Russia has introduced its first national standard, or GOST, for artificial intelligence systems in healthcare, according to a document published on the website of the Federal Agency for Technical Regulation and Metrology, as reported by Izvestia.

The document states that integrating AI technologies into healthcare “requires clear regulation, standardization, and adherence to ethical principles.”

Reducing Risks of Errors and Misuse

The new GOST is designed to improve patient safety and maintain a high standard of medical services. It is also expected to reduce the risk of errors or misuse related to AI systems.

Earlier, Ministry of Digital Development drafted a federal bill to regulate artificial intelligence. The proposal would require all stages of AI model development and training to take place within Russia. It would also mandate labeling for all AI-generated content, with large social media platforms required to verify such labels or apply them independently.
