Russia Expands Digital X-Ray Network to Remote Hospitals

High-tech imaging systems are reaching even the country’s most distant medical facilities — speeding up diagnostics and improving care.

A new digital X-ray system has begun operating at the Chernigov District Hospital in Russia’s Primorsky Krai, part of a nationwide push to modernize medical diagnostics. The upgraded unit allows doctors to perform scans in multiple patient positions, producing exceptionally sharp and high-contrast images.

“The entire exam now takes just a few minutes. We no longer need to develop film, which makes the process faster and far more convenient — both for us and for our patients,” said Tatyana Drobysheva, the hospital’s X-ray technician.

Instant results across departments

All images are instantly uploaded to a unified medical imaging system, enabling radiologists, surgeons, and attending physicians to view them immediately — no matter where in the hospital they are located.

“Now any doctor treating a patient can access the image right away,” said Yulia Rudyh, the hospital’s chief physician. “That greatly speeds up diagnosis and ultimately improves the quality and efficiency of care.”

Russia’s ongoing rollout of digital X-ray systems is part of a broader effort to equip regional hospitals with connected, data-driven technologies — bridging the gap between urban and remote healthcare.
