Russian University Turns to App-Based Hiring
A national research university in Samara is digitizing HR — letting new hires complete most of the onboarding process from their smartphones.

At Samara National Research University, new employees can now be hired entirely through a mobile app. The university has launched Directum HR Pro, a digital platform that automates document processing and approvals, allowing candidates to complete almost all the steps of employment remotely. The only in-person requirement is a final visit to the HR office for verification.
The digital transition took several months and was implemented by SoftSnow, an accredited Russian IT developer. The university has already deployed two modules — “Hiring” and “Electronic HR Document Management”. Administrators chose Directum HR Pro for its flexible configuration tools and integration capabilities.
Signing contracts online
The university says this is only the beginning. In the next phase, staff will be able to sign supplementary agreements and HR documents online, further reducing administrative workload. Employees have already undergone training to manage and customize the system themselves.
Universities across Russia are increasingly turning to similar digital tools to streamline operations. For Samara University, the new HR platform represents a flexible and scalable digital ecosystem — one that evolves alongside the institution’s broader goals in education and research.
