Russian Operator Boosts Internet Speeds Using Domestic Technology
Megafon deploys Russian-built CGNAT platforms to expand network capacity and enhance resilience.

Russian telecom operator Megafon has increased its internet connection speeds by integrating locally developed network technologies. The key innovation is the deployment of CGNAT (Carrier-grade NAT) systems created by RDP and TrafficSoft, which help manage the shortage of IP addresses caused by the growing number of connected devices.
One of the main advantages of the Russian CGNAT complexes is their versatility — they can operate on both physical and virtual servers. This flexibility allows the operator to scale network infrastructure efficiently in response to rising data traffic. The shift to domestic solutions also eliminates dependence on foreign vendors, reducing risks linked to potential sanctions or support suspensions.
Not Just Faster — More Reliable
The move strengthens Russia’s long-term digital infrastructure strategy by improving network stability and data continuity.
Megafon plans to replace all outdated address translation systems with modern domestic alternatives in the coming years — further solidifying its position as a leader in adopting Russian telecom technologies.
