Cashless tipping has gained momentum in Russia, with a new terminal-based feature significantly increasing overall spending. Introduced last year by Sber, the system allows customers in cafés and restaurants to leave tips at the same terminal used to pay the bill. Early adopters reported results within a month, with average tip amounts rising by 24%. More than 100 restaurants in Moscow, the surrounding region, and St. Petersburg have already joined the system. The approach is simple but effective: customers save time, staff receive more tips, and businesses see higher revenue without additional investment in equipment or marketing.

Simple Interface, Bigger Tips

Customers are more willing to tip when the process is straightforward. The service allows users to reward a specific employee or leave a shared tip for the entire staff. Restaurants can sign up for the service by submitting a request online and choosing a preferred setup – adding tips to the bill, using QR codes, enabling the option on terminals, or integrating it via API on their websites.
