A data-driven decision support system for primary healthcare management has been developed in Russia’s Kamchatka region, TASS reported, citing Anastasia Kildau, head of the regional branch of insurance company SOGAZ-Med.

She described the project as a unique case of partnership between an insurance provider and the state. The system is designed to support two key levels of management. For the regional health ministry, it aggregates data on population health to provide an objective, region-wide overview. For chief physicians, it serves as a tactical management tool.

The platform is built on big data analytics and artificial intelligence. In real time, it identifies patients in high-risk groups, tracks care pathways, and monitors coverage of preventive and treatment measures.

Practical Impact

According to the regional Health Ministry, the system tracks three key indicators: the quality of preventive checkups, the effectiveness of monitoring patients with chronic non-communicable diseases, and the timeliness of cancer diagnosis. Complex datasets are visualized in clear charts and reports for both hospital administrators and regulators.
