Rosatom Rolls Out Mobile Energy Storage Units for Off-Grid Events

Russia’s state nuclear corporation is deploying portable battery systems to power field operations and public events—cutting cords and carbon.

Rosatom is launching a wide-scale initiative to use mobile energy storage systems at off-site events. The plan was announced by Anastasia Mikhailova, CEO of Renera (a subsidiary under Rosatom’s fuel division), during the Innoprom 2025 industrial expo in Yekaterinburg, as reported by TASS.

The new system—branded as a 'mobile fleet' of battery units—enables rapid deployment of autonomous energy supply solutions for events held anywhere. The setup can provide off-grid electricity for up to two weeks without access to traditional power lines.

“We see enormous potential in this technology. Starting next year, all of Rosatom’s off-site events will run on these storage units,” Mikhailova said.

Beyond temporary venues, Rosatom plans to roll out the technology across its industrial sites and cities where it operates. A pilot project has already gone live in Sverdlovsk Oblast, where the country’s most powerful one-megawatt storage unit was recently launched.

The initiative highlights Rosatom’s leadership in energy innovation and aligns with global trends toward sustainable power solutions.
