Digital and Technology Trends Identified in the Construction Sector

All modern technologies – AI, robots, drones, and modular construction – are set to operate within a single integrated environment.

Artificial intelligence, import substitution, robotics, drones, and innovative modular construction are set to become the most important technological trends in the construction sector in the coming years, according to SIGNAL Chief Technology Officer Alexander Popov.

In the expert’s view, AI will become a “virtual employee” on construction projects, and the key task for platform developers will be to provide open APIs that allow it to work with data.

As for import substitution, foreign technological solutions will continue to be replaced by domestic alternatives. Drones, meanwhile, are expected to revolutionize the monitoring of large-scale sites and logistics.

“I am confident that within a three-to-five-year horizon, humanoid robots will appear on construction sites to handle simple tasks such as material delivery and repetitive work like photo documentation. Over time, they may also take on certain construction operations, provided models emerge that are resistant to construction dust,” Popov said.

A Technological Breakthrough

The expert also predicted a revival of modular construction at a new level. High-quality factories producing bathroom modules, facade panels, and fully assembled engineering units represent a path toward a breakthrough in productivity.

“For us, all these trends are not an abstraction. In five years, we see SIGNAL as a full-fledged ERP system covering the entire construction life cycle – from the start of construction through commissioning and even the operational phase – where all modern technologies – AI, robots, and modular construction – will work within a single integrated environment,” the expert concluded.
