Russia Launches 'Defender' Platform to Detect and Block Personal Data Leaks

A new cybersecurity service aims to stop scammers from gaining access to citizens’ personal information and offers legal support in case of financial fraud.
A Russian IT company, in partnership with a major telecom operator, has unveiled a new digital security service called 'Defender.' The platform is designed to protect users’ personal data and combat online fraud, according to Crosshub.
The system allows citizens to quickly detect when confidential information is being sent to scammers and to remove it from public access. If suspicious transactions involving bank cards are identified, users receive legal assistance. Specialists help victims create a personalized action plan and prepare official complaints to the relevant authorities.
Russian cybersecurity experts warn that criminals use various methods to steal personal data. Some send emails containing malicious files, while others set up open Wi-Fi networks named after shopping malls or stores. In just a couple of clicks, victims can end up handing over passport details, money, and personal photos to criminals.
