Russia to Use AI for Large-Scale Upgrade of State Services Portal

The government is redesigning its 'Gosuslugi' portal with AI-powered features tailored to different age groups, aiming to make public services faster and more user-friendly.
The Russian government has launched a major overhaul of its national e-government portal, Gosuslugi, with the goal of making it accessible to citizens of all ages. The updated interface will provide older users with step-by-step instructions and visual guides, while younger users will see streamlined workflows with intuitive icons, according to Vitaly Vekhov, a professor at Bauman Moscow State Technical University, speaking to Radio Sputnik.
The portal will leverage artificial intelligence to instantly compile a full list of required documents and relevant agencies for any given service. This will eliminate the need for citizens to spend hours navigating different requirements, cutting application times by three to five times.
User convenience is a top priority. Psychological studies show that more than three consecutive actions can cause stress, so the system will minimize the number of clicks needed. An online curator feature will also be introduced to guide users through every stage of their interaction with the service.
The platform’s capabilities continue to expand each year. In regional implementations, Gosuslugi has already launched a specialized service called 'Life Situation: Child with Disabilities in the Family.' It enables parents to access various forms of support, including specialist consultations, benefit information, payment applications, and other assistance programs.
