Russia Rolls Out AI Tool to Ditch Excel for a Homegrown Planning Platform

SL Soft says its AI-powered system can automatically transfer complex financial models from Excel to the Russian-made Polymatica EPM — no manual data wrangling required.
Russian software company SL Soft has unveiled an AI-based migration tool designed to speed the transition from Microsoft Excel to its domestic corporate planning platform, Polymatica EPM. The system automatically scans spreadsheet structures, formulas, and business logic, eliminating the need for manual configuration and dramatically reducing migration time.
Polymatica EPM — also developed by SL Soft — is listed in Russia’s Unified Register of Domestic Software, an official certification that it was built in-country and deemed secure for use by large corporations and government agencies. With the new AI tool, enterprise users can fully automate the transfer of their financial models into the Russian platform.
Excel has long been a staple for budgeting, but it comes with baggage: sprawling, interlinked files that grow increasingly unwieldy over time. For many, the biggest barrier to adopting Polymatica EPM was the painstaking manual data transfer process — a job the new AI system now automates.
Industry watchers say the rollout could mark a significant step in Russia’s ongoing import substitution drive and the broader digital transformation of its domestic enterprises.
