Russian Students Design Interactive Space-Themed Game for Cosmonautics Museum

Blending history with code, a team of Russian undergrads is building a new kind of educational experience—one that’s part museum tour, part game engine
Students from Moscow’s Higher School of Economics are developing an interactive gaming experience for the Konstantin Tsiolkovsky State Museum of the History of Cosmonautics in Kaluga. The project is part of a two-week academic expedition (July 6–19) under Russia’s national program “Rediscovering the Country,” aimed at creating new cultural and tech-based experiences.
The team, made up of first- through fourth-year students from the university’s Faculties of Creative Industries and Computer Science, is working on a real-world brief provided by the museum itself. Using a mix of design, programming, and agile teamwork, they aim to build a product that speaks to a new generation of museumgoers raised on smartphones, social media, and immersive content.
Project curators say the initiative demonstrates the potential of student-driven collaboration between the cultural and tech sectors. Beyond a showcase of digital skills, it’s a way to rethink how young people engage with science, history, and national heritage in the 21st century.
This hybrid of education and entertainment highlights the growing influence of gaming and interactive media in shaping modern museum experiences—and hints at a future where innovation doesn’t just preserve history, it reanimates it.
