Russia Builds Its First AI-Powered Bullet Train “White Falcon”

The fully autonomous high-speed train, now under construction, is designed to reach 400 km/h and will debut on the Moscow–St. Petersburg line.
Russia has started assembling its first generation of fully automated bullet trains equipped with artificial intelligence. The project, dubbed “White Falcon,” marks a leap toward autonomous rail transport, with AI controlling everything from navigation to passenger safety.
According to Oleg Belozyorov, CEO of Russian Railways, neural networks will make train travel safer, more efficient, and more comfortable. Unlike distant-future visions, this train is already taking shape at the Ural Locomotives plant, part of the Sinara Group.
The “White Falcon” will be tested in 2027 on a stretch of track between Zelenograd and Tver before entering service on the Moscow–St. Petersburg high-speed corridor in 2028. The train is engineered to reach 400 km/h, and officials plan to expand the network to connect Russia’s Central and Northwestern regions—home to nearly one-third of the country’s population.
