Russia Sees AI as Key Weapon Against Aging Within 10–15 Years

Artificial intelligence is already speeding up drug development, and experts predict that within the next decade it could be widely applied to slow down aging itself.

Mass deployment of artificial intelligence in the fight against aging could become possible within 10 to 15 years, according to Sergei Golitsyn, a specialist at Russia’s T1 IT holding, who shared his forecast with NEWS.ru.

AI is already playing an active role in the development of vaccines and new medications. Recent breakthroughs include algorithms that predict protein structures or the effects of their mutations, automated counters for microorganism colonies, and more. Russian researchers are leveraging neural networks to search for treatments for cancer and Alzheimer’s disease. With AI, the entire cycle—from designing a molecule to launching production—can be shortened dramatically.

Golitsyn emphasized that the real breakthrough will depend not only on technological progress, but also on building a solid ethical and regulatory framework. A Code of Ethics will be essential to ensure patient safety and to monitor the effectiveness of AI algorithms. Developing strict, transparent legal standards will raise the overall quality of AI-driven solutions.

On the academic side, Russian universities are already drafting internal guidelines for working with artificial intelligence. Academic integrity policies now regulate how neural networks can be used by both students and faculty. For instance, texts must indicate when information comes from an AI system, and the author remains responsible for verifying the accuracy of the borrowed material.
